Technology has radically changed the way schools seek to communicate with students, teachers, parents, and other stakeholders. As part of my various roles on campus, like coordinator for PSAT, AP, and Postsecondary Education Readiness Test (PERT), I have had to use varied means of connecting with the right people. I have employed my school’s website; varied social media, like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram; plus educational communication technologies like ConnectEd for voice messages and Remind for text messages. I strive to make my communication professional, and when I’m building a visual communication tool, I strive to create a product that is both engaging and appealing, so that I can be proud of the way I represent HHS in our community.
In the last year, I have taken on a new position that has become a model for the district’s Instructional Leader for Post-Secondary Readiness. My work in supporting the efforts of our AP teachers and others who prepare students for life after high school has become the protocol for that position. As a result, I have served as my own liaison to various district committees and organized and promoted both school and regional events where post-secondary readiness and English/Language Arts was the focus.
